Rose High Magic (High magic) - what is this hybrid variety, description

Rose High Magic (High Magic) is a variety of hybrid tea roses. Brought out in 2006 by the Dutch company United Selections. In Russia, some gardeners misread the English word "high", so you can come across the name Heech Magic rose. Sometimes the plant is simply called the Hai rose for short.

Description of the variety

The rose was named High Magic for its magical coloration. A yellow-red gradient is poured over the petals, resembling a flame, hence its name dancing flame, or in another way dancing fire. Due to its bright orange hues, the flower is also called the Orange Magic rose (orange - English "orange").

What does the High Magic rose look like?

The rose is a large bud on a thick stem. Each bud has several dozen dense petals, the edges of which are slightly curved. The maximum height of the stem is 1.10 cm, in the girth is 60 cm. The foliage is dark green matte. Each stem usually has one large bud at the end, ranging in size from 6 to 10 cm, but there are also inflorescences of 3-4 small buds.

For your information! High Magic blooms profusely from late May to November inclusive, one bud is continuously replaced by another.

Advantages and disadvantages

Rose High Magic has many benefits:

  • shoots are even, straight and very strong, do not require artificial support;
  • there are practically no thorns on the stems;
  • flowers do not fade in the sun;
  • the buds are strong and hold their shape for a long time;
  • has a strong immunity to bacteria and fungi, as well as harmful insects;
  • sufficiently resistant to rain;
  • tolerates drought well;
  • tolerates winter well;
  • cut flowers can stand in water for more than two weeks.

The plant has only one drawback that allergy sufferers can write down as advantages - a very weak aroma.

Place in the landscape

The Dutch hybrid can be planted alone or with other crops. The fire flower is used to create flower beds, mixbroders, hedges. Designers advise combining the iridescent rose with other plants of the same variety or with simple monochromatic perennials and annuals. High and Magic perfectly coexists with clematis and lush peonies.

Reproduction

The tea hybrid is planted either by cuttings or seedlings. Due to the high prices for ready-made seedlings, amateur gardeners often use cuttings.

The shoot is cut into twigs of 15 cm each. 2-3 good buds are left on each twig, the cuttings should have an oblique cut from below. The upper edge is greased with brilliant green, the lower one is placed in a root former for a day. After the twigs are immersed in the ground 3 cm so that the soil covers the lower bud. The cuttings are watered and covered with a cut plastic bottle. Moisturize and fertilize the soil for several weeks. With the appearance of foliage, the cuttings are transplanted.

Landing

High Magic should be planted in late May or autumn.

Note! Rose growers recommend planting a flower in mid-September before frost.

The site for planting should be well lit by the sun and at the same time be closed from the wind. If the slope of the soil exceeds 7%, terracing is necessary, otherwise the seedling will not develop well. The soil should be moderately moist. The permissible acidity level is from 5.5 to 7.3 pH.

Planting a rose

To plant, you need to do the following:

  1. Using the plantation method, plow the area to a depth of 70 cm.
  2. Add fertilizer to the soil while plowing.
  3. Dig a hole under the bush.
  4. Sprinkle the bottom of the hole with gravel.
  5. If the ground is wet and there is a risk of water stagnation, make drainage channels.
  6. Put the seedlings in water for several hours (5-8).
  7. Process the shoots, leave only strong and intact, without damage.
  8. Place the seedling in the hole, cover the roots with potting soil. It should include sand, peat and manure in a ratio of 2: 1: 3.
  9. Drizzle.

Note! If you want to plant several rows of several bushes in each, then the distance between the bushes should be at least half a meter, the distance between the rows is 1 m.

Watering

Water the shrub in the morning and in the evening and only at the root, since the water on the stem and leaves can cause fungal diseases. In dry weather, watering is necessary 1-2 times a week. The soil should not be poured, this can lead to the development of fungus. Once every two weeks, it is required to loosen the ground under the plant so that the soil is better for moisture and air to pass through. You can also sprinkle mulch around the stem.

Top dressing and soil quality

The rose needs regular feeding. At each stage of growth and development, a hybrid requires a special kind of fertilizer:

  • after germination - with microelements;
  • after tying buds - on a dung basis or with bird droppings;
  • before frost - with potassium;
  • after cold weather - with nitrogen.

Important! Additionally, you can use herbal infusion.

Pruning

In the first year after planting, all the buds are cut from the perennial. This is necessary for better and more durable flowering in the future. After another year, all weak and defective stems must be removed, and blind shoots are cut above the leaves.

Important! Pruning is carried out only in the summer season.

Wintering a flower

Hybrid tea rose High Magic tolerates frost better than other varieties of roses. But many gardeners have made sure from personal experience that it is advisable to prepare it in advance for the cold winter. To do this, take the following steps:

  • spud the stem up to 40-45 cm;
  • pluck or cut the lower leaves;
  • pinch the top of the shoots;
  • weak shoots are cut and bent to the ground;
  • a frame is placed over the treated bushes;
  • covered with a film, a layer of peat or spruce branches.

What to do if the rose does not bloom

The plant may not develop properly and not bloom for several reasons:

  • the rose was planted at a steep angle;
  • the flowerbed is in the shade;
  • the flowerbed is open to the wind;
  • the cropping was done incorrectly;
  • the soil is not fertile enough or, conversely, is overfed with fertilizers;
  • the flower is adjacent to plants that restrict the growth of a young seedling;
  • the rose was struck by a disease or pests.

Note! To remedy the situation, it is necessary to correct the watering and feeding of the shrub, cut off damaged shoots and carry out preventive treatment with drugs. If the cause of the problem is in the planting site, then it is worth replanting the plant to a more suitable place.

Diseases, pests and ways to control them

Rose High Magic rarely gets sick and almost does not succumb to the influence of pests. Nevertheless, it is worth periodically treating the plant with special agents to avoid diseases and prolong the life of the flower.

The High Magic variety is perfect for decorating a flower bed and local area. The main thing is to plant the seedling correctly and provide the bush with decent care.
