Violet humako inches - plant features

Violets have long been known to flower growers. Varietal varieties, to which the Humako Inches violet belongs, are of greatest interest to lovers of these beautiful and not too demanding flowers to care for. It is much easier to grow them on window sills for home decoration, knowing the basic rules for caring for a plant.

What does the violet Humako Inches look like?

For the first time violet (violet) was discovered in the mountains of East Africa, for which it is often called Uzambara. The scientific name - Saintpaulia or Saintpaulia - the plant received from the surname of Baron Saint-Paul, who discovered this flower, beloved by many. Thanks to a friend-breeder of the baron, the first indoor Saintpaulia was bred, which became the progenitor of modern varietal violets.

Flower Humako Inches

The Humako variety belongs to the Gesneriev family. This variety is a hybrid bred by breeders of the Humako company from the Netherlands. The flower growers of this company own the authorship of many varieties, including Humako Flame and Humako Pink Wave. The second word in the name of the flower "inches" means "inches", directly indicating its size.

Violet Inches, as described, forms a compact rosette of light green, fleecy leaves, over which multiple flower stalks rise. The flowers are large, 6-8 cm in diameter.

Interesting! The petals have an unusual color and shape: a deep purple center is framed by a moderately double edge of white.

Features of caring for a violet Humako Inches at home

Violet Inches is quite unpretentious and does not require special care, unlike other Saintpaulias. But in order to achieve long-term flowering of this plant, it is important to create favorable conditions for it.

Temperature

The optimal temperature regime for violets ranges from 18-24 ° C. In hotter rooms, the flower slows down and does not bloom. In winter, a moderate decrease in the heat level is allowed, but not lower than 10 ° C. An even greater decrease in temperature, even for a short time, is detrimental to the plant.

Lighting

The place where Humako Inches is located should be well lit, but at the same time protected from direct sunlight. Having placed a pots with a flower on the south window, it is advisable to hang curtains over it.

Advice! In winter, when daylight hours are reduced, the plant needs to provide additional lighting with phyto-lamps or rearrange it on a lighter window sill.

Watering

To irrigate the violets of the Humako variety, use settled water at room temperature. It is important that during watering, water does not fall on the leaves and petals of the flower, otherwise it may rot. Winter watering is done only after the top layer of soil in the pot is completely dry.

Spraying

It is strictly forbidden to spray violets. High humidity leads to decay and death of the plant. In addition, in a humid environment, the risk of developing fungal diseases and the reproduction of insect pests increases.

Humidity

During the summer heat or during the heating season, the air in the room becomes too dry for violets. A pallet with wet pebbles placed near Humako Inches will significantly improve the situation.

Priming

More than other soil mixtures for Saintpaulias, a mixture of peat and sand is suitable. In order not to be mistaken in the proportions, you can purchase ready-made soil in a florist shop and treat it at home with a weak solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection. It is imperative to lay drainage in the pots.

Top dressing

In the spring and summer periods, when the Inches violet is actively developing and blooming, it must be fed twice a week. For this purpose, a mineral composition for flowering plants is suitable, which is diluted in accordance with the instructions on the package.

When and how it blooms

With proper care, Saintpaulias bloom almost all year round. Humako Inches is no exception, although it has its own characteristics.

Types of flowers

The variety has its own twin - Humako Inches Nouname or Humako Inches 2, which has a number of characteristic differences. The original variety has larger flowers with a less wavy edge. The buds of the second hybrid are smaller, but with more corrugated petals, which makes it a bit like Isabella.

Humako Inches 1 and 2

As the air temperature rises, Humako Inches flowers become darker, their lilac-violet core increases, the white rim around the edges of the petals becomes narrower.

Interesting! With the onset of cold weather, on the contrary, the flowers brighten significantly.

Flower shapes

The flowers of this variety have a typical violet shape - two petals at the top and 3 at the bottom. The edges of the petals can be more or less wavy, depending on the variety of the hybrid.

Flowering period

The flowering period of Saintpaulia is long and can last up to 9 months (from March to November). After the old inflorescences wither, new buds immediately bloom.

Changes in care during flowering

A special change in care during flowering is not required for the flower, with the exception of top dressing. The lighting and watering regime should remain the same.

How the Humako Inches violet reproduces

There are two ways to propagate a violet of this variety: by sowing seeds and by cuttings. It is quite difficult to germinate seeds in an apartment. It is much easier to root cuttings obtained from a healthy adult violet.

The step-by-step grafting procedure is as follows:

  1. Choose a strong viable leaf of the parent specimen.
  2. With a sharp blade, the leaf is cut at an angle.
  3. The place of the cut is sprinkled with crushed activated carbon.
  4. The cut leaf is placed in a container with water at room temperature and placed on a windowsill with diffused light.

Add water periodically. When roots grow in the cutting after 1.5-2 months, it is transplanted into the soil.

Florists with sufficient experience in growing violets will be able to root Inches leaves in the ground.

Transplant after purchase and during reproduction

The transplant procedure should be carried out twice a year, since the soil is very quickly depleted due to the abundant flowering. To do this, select pots of the same size and prepare the soil for the Saintpaulias. The drainage layer should occupy at least 1/3 of the capacity.

The planned transfer is carried out by the transshipment method. If the procedure is urgent due to soil acidification or the appearance of a disease, then the soil should be completely replaced, including the one between the roots. At the same time, the entire root system is carefully checked and the daughter outlets are separated for subsequent reproduction.

Possible growing problems

When growing saintpaulias at home, many problems can arise. Most of them are the result of a violation of the conditions of care: increased humidity levels, poor lighting, drafts, improper watering.

Important! A violet planted in too wide a container will not bloom until it fills the entire surface of the earth.

Leaf problems

Among the difficulties that can be faced are disorders associated with plant leaves:

  • yellowing;
  • the appearance of spots.

In the first case, the plant may require rejuvenation or rearrangement in a less illuminated place. You should also reduce the dosage of applied phosphorus fertilizers. Spots appear when various pests appear.

Pests

Most often, the violet is attacked by certain insects:

  • different types of ticks;
  • scabbards;
  • nematodes.

With a low degree of infection, the damaged parts of the plant are destroyed, and the rest are treated with acaricides. In other cases, it is better to get rid of the flower.

Diseases

Humako's delicate violet often suffers from typical synpoly diseases:

  • gray rot;
  • powdery mildew;
  • rust;
  • late blight.

In some cases, the plant can be saved by treating it with special means, but more often it is recommended to destroy it along with the pot.

Signs of improper care

Regular preventive examination of indoor violets allows you to timely identify the slightest deviations for the worse in growth, development, and the appearance of flowers.

Signs of impaired care may include:

  • crushing flowers and dullness of their colors;
  • stretching the leaf stalks and lifting them up;
  • curling the edge of the leaves inward;
  • wilting and yellowing of leaf plates;
  • blackening of the edge of the leaves;
  • wilting of flowers and unopened buds;
  • lack of flowering.

By detecting one or more problems early, you can correct the situation faster with less damage to the flower.

Healthy Violet Humako Inches

Growing violets in pots at home is not particularly difficult. It is enough to follow the simplest rules, paying a little attention to flowers, and they will delight with lush flowering throughout the year. Hybrid variety Humako Inches is unpretentious, but loves attention and care like any other.
