These varieties always stand out at Russian and international exhibitions and are in no way inferior to foreign varieties, and some are superior to foreign rivals.

Features of caring for a violet Summer twilight

Violet Summer twilight, like other representatives of the genus Saintpaulia, is rather unpretentious. It does not require unusual, complex or inaccessible care measures for the common man in the street. Therefore, it is possible to grow such a violet even to someone who had no experience in indoor floriculture before.

Temperature

Throughout the year, the temperature should be approximately the same and be about + 23 ° C. Violet does not tolerate heat, but even worse tolerates cold. In a too cold room, this delicate flower simply dies.

Lighting

The sun's rays entering the room in the early morning or evening are not harmful to the plant, so it can be safely grown on east or west windows. But for keeping on the southern windowsills, curtains will be required that will scatter bright sunlight, especially in summer, in hot, clear weather.

South windows are an ideal place in winter, but lighting will be required even on them. The flower needs a long day of light - at least 10 hours.

Watering

It is important not to spill over the Summer twilight. Watering is carried out only as needed, when the soil dries out to a depth of 1 cm.

Watering is carried out very carefully so that water does not fall on the leaf outlet. The water should be warm, soft and well-separated. Wick irrigation is also suitable.

Spraying

Spraying is not required, but once a month you can do a refreshing shower for the plant. It should be warm and without strong pressure.

After completing the procedure, be sure to remove the remaining drops of water.

Humidity

Variety Summer twilight prefers moderate humidity. In rooms with dry air, next to the pot in which the violet grows, you can put a plate with wet expanded clay or water. A special humidifier will do.

Priming

When growing violets Summer twilight is best to use ready-made soil for Saintpaulias or violets. All the necessary substances are collected in it in the prescribed proportions. You can prepare the soil mixture yourself. It should include:

  • peat or sphagnum moss - the latter is more suitable, since it will not only become a natural baking powder, but also slightly acidify the substrate;
  • if it is not possible to get peat or moss, the coir sold in flower shops is suitable (this is a special natural baking powder created from coconut threads);
  • bark of coniferous trees;
  • loam;
  • vermiculite and perlite;
  • river washed sand;
  • charcoal.

Important! The mixture, which is made by yourself, must be disinfected. For this purpose, a solution of potassium permanganate is perfect.

Top dressing

Top dressing is required regularly throughout the growing season, including during the flowering period.

It is important to know that young violets, before the beginning of the flowering period (in spring), should be enriched with nitrogenous fertilizers, which will accelerate the growth of the deciduous part. It will become more powerful, brighter and thicker.

As soon as the buds begin to set, it is worth stopping the nitrogen addition and making the compounds rich in potassium and phosphorus. For top dressing, it is better to use complex fertilizers, which contain additional trace elements necessary for the full development of the plant.

When and how it blooms

This is a large-flowered Saintpaulia (flowers up to 6 cm) with a wavy edge of petals, its color is two-color. The flower shape is a semi-double star. Therefore, from the point of view of the layman, the Summer Twilight variety blooms very unusually - it pleases with beautiful, large flowers of an unusual shape and color.

The flowering period is 3 summer months with proper care. If the care is perfect and the growing conditions are pleasant to the violet, it can bloom longer.

During the flowering period, you should not rinse the flower under the shower and you should not apply fertilizers containing nitrogen. Otherwise, no content changes are required.

How Saintpaulia reproduces Summer twilight

There are 3 ways to breed violets:

  • Cutting (leaf).
  • Stepsons.
  • By rooting the peduncle.

Important! You should not try to grow hybrid violets from seeds, especially those that have been harvested by yourself. They will not be able to preserve the properties of the mother plant.

Cuttings should not be taken during the flowering period; leaves that have reached 3-4 cm in length are suitable for reproduction. They can be germinated in water or immediately planted in prepared soil. Reproduction by stepsons is carried out in a similar way. It is better to germinate flower stalks in water first.

Transplant after purchase and during reproduction

After the purchase, the flower should not be transplanted immediately, it needs a quarantine period, which can last from 2 weeks to 2 months.

At the end of the adaptation period, a transplant is made into a new pot with ready-made soil. The transfer method is transshipment.

When propagating, cuttings are first planted in a common box. When they reach 3 cm wide, they are dived into small containers.Plastic cups are perfect for this. When the new root rosette reaches 4 cm in diameter, the plant can be replanted for permanent residence.

Possible growing problems

Despite the unpretentiousness of the flower, some problems may arise.

Leaf problems

If the leaves are stretching, it is worth increasing the amount of light. Fading leaves indicate insufficient watering. Leaves that have lost their cellular turgor, on the contrary, speak of overflow.

Interesting! Summer twilight is a variegated variety, however, sometimes it happens that the leaves become monochromatic. This does not mean a lack of care or some kind of disease. It just happens sometimes.

Pests

Of the pests most often attacked: ticks, whiteflies, scale insects, thrips, aphids. The fight against them is carried out with the help of insecticides.

Diseases

Diseases that attack the violet Summer twilight are most often fungal. Among the officially allocated, the most popular are:

  • root and stem rot - treatment with a special preparation and transplantation into a new substrate will be required to eliminate it;
  • powdery mildew is afraid of such drugs as Topaz and Bayleton;
  • gray rot is a dangerous infection in which the flowers and stems become covered with mold, which later spreads to all parts of the plant. Treatment is carried out with special drugs, and all damaged parts must be removed.

Important! Most diseases spread to violets from neighboring plants. Therefore, you need to carefully monitor your plantings.

Signs of improper care

As soon as the plant is dissatisfied with something, it lets its owner know about this problem. It must be identified and eliminated. To do this, it is enough to remember all the conditions that the flower requires and think which of them is not fulfilled. As a rule, when the error in care is removed, the problem disappears.

Variety of violets Moreva Summer twilight will certainly delight those who decided to become its owner. Subject to simple rules throughout the summer months, the florist will be able to enjoy large, lush, original inflorescences. This Saintpaulia is no longer a novelty, but it will definitely take its rightful place on any windowsill and will perfectly fit into any interior.
