What does the violet Amadeus look like?

Plant characteristics

The flower has rich green foliage, which is collected in neat rosettes. The bush can grow up to 35-40 cm in diameter.

For your information! The cultivar is identified by its downward-facing leaves, with long cuttings and double petals, a clear border and a bright crimson hue.

The plant belongs to the violet - the most common genus.

Briefly about the history of appearance

Amadeus (Amadeus Saintpaulia) appeared as a result of K. Morev's breeding work in 2012. The full name of the flower is CM Amadeus pink, where the last word means pink.

Note! The Uzambara violet was discovered in 1892 in Tanzania by Baron V. von Saint-Paul, therefore it is sometimes called saintpaul.

Features of caring for a violet Amadeus pink at home

Florists believe that a container with a diameter of 4-5 cm will be an ideal pot for violets. When using larger dishes, it will begin to build up the root system and refuse to bloom.

Saintpaulia requires a small pot

Temperature

Favorable temperature regime - 22-25 ° С. In winter, the thermometer can drop to 18 ° C, and rise to 30 ° C in summer.

Important! The plant does not tolerate drafts and sudden changes in temperature; in unstable conditions it gets sick and dies.

Lighting

Violets prefer diffused lighting, east or west windows. On the south side, the flower will have to be protected from direct sunlight.

Important! If Amadeus (Morev) begins to actively grow, then the problem is a lack of light. The average daylight hours should be in the range of 10-12 hours.

Watering

Water is poured into the pan after the soil mixture has dried. Do not allow liquid to enter the outlet, as moisture will provoke decay and subsequent death.

Spraying

It is forbidden to spray the violet Amadeus pink, the accumulated water causes fungal diseases, decay of foliage and shoots.

Humidity

Suitable indicators are 50-55%, with lower humidity, the size of the flowers will decrease, the foliage will bend down.

Note! In hot weather, humidification is carried out with a special device or a glass of water is placed next to the pot.

Uzambara varieties

Priming

In the description of the species, there are recommendations on the use of a special mixture for violets. The soil mixture is prepared independently from:

  • 1 part peat;
  • 1 part vermiculite;
  • 3 pieces of garden land.

After mixing, the soil is calcined in the oven for 3 hours.

For your information! As a substitute for calcining, three-day freezing or soil treatment with 1% potassium permanganate solution is used.

Top dressing

Saintpaulia is fertilized all year round, except for the dormant period in winter. Complex formulations for violets are used, which are applied every 10-14 days.

When and how it blooms

Violets are unpretentious to care for and delight their owners with the frequent formation of flowers. Their absence indicates a violation of the rules of care.

Types of flowers

The first flowering of Amadeus is characterized by the formation of large non-double-type flowers. Subsequent years they are terry and smaller in size, along the edge of the petal there is a white corrugated strip.

Note! The color changes in accordance with the temperature: from dark crimson to pale pink.

Flower shapes

In violets, the edges of the petals do not have divisions, the double flowers are large from 5 to 7 cm in diameter. Under favorable conditions, specimens up to 8 cm are found.

Flowering period

Flowers can appear all year round, but in winter it is time to rest. Flowering continues from the onset of spring to the first days of winter, almost monthly.

For your information! In the southern regions, bud blooming is also observed during the cold season.

Changes in care during flowering

During the appearance of flowers, the plant needs pruning of old shoots and foliage. It helps to extend the flowering time, increase the green mass, and obtain a compact flower.

How Saintpaulia Amadeus (Morev) reproduces

Reproduction occurs by seeds and cuttings, but the second option is preferred. It is carried out according to the scheme:

  1. A healthy and strong leaf is selected in the 2-3 row of the lower tier.
  2. An incision is made at the bottom at an angle of 45 °.
  3. It is planted in the ground or placed in water.

Note! When rooting in water, the roots will appear no earlier than after 1.5-2 months.

Transplant after purchase and during reproduction

The transplant is carried out immediately after the plant is brought into the house or with strong root growth. In the second case, the procedure is needed 1 to 2 times a year. The size of the pot should be 2/3 of the volume of the outlet, the procedure is carried out by the transshipment method.

The container is pre-treated with 70% alcohol solution or 1% potassium permanganate. The bottom is lined with drainage, the earthen lump on the violet is slightly shaken off. After planting in a new pot, the remaining gaps are filled with fresh mixture, the plant is sent to a warm place with diffused lighting.

Important! The transplant is carried out in March-November, in the winter it is better not to disturb the violet.

The transplant is best done in October.

Possible growing problems

The lack of flowering, foliage falling or the appearance of extraneous plaque on it speaks of improper care or attacks of pests and infections. Before starting rescue work, it is necessary to determine the cause of the disease.

Late blight

Leaf problems

The appearance of a whitish bloom indicates a lesion with powdery mildew. The plant requires treatment with phytosporin (for 50 g of water - 1 g of the substance).

Pests

Twisted or wilted leaves with a light matte bloom are the result of the activity of aphids or spider mites. After mechanical removal of the pest, the bush is treated twice with actellik (1 ml of water for 1 ml of solution).

Whiteflies lay eggs, hatched larvae secrete a secret in which a sooty fungus starts up. Herbivorous insects are carriers of viral, fungal and bacterial diseases. You can cope with the whitefly with the help of insecticides.

Diseases

Fusarium, powdery mildew require the use of topaz, foundation.

Signs of improper care

Excessive waterlogging of the soil and air causes the development of late blight. To solve the problem, the number of watering is reduced, the plant is transplanted into a new pot with clean soil. Rotting of the root system is associated with harmful substances accumulated in the soil, which are emitted by violets. The only treatment is a transplant.

Amadeus is an unpretentious species, but violation of the rules of maintenance and care will not allow you to get a flowering and healthy plant.Ignoring the requirements leads to a long illness of the flower and its subsequent death.
