Rose Black magic - what is this rare variety, description

Black Magic hybrid tea rose is very popular among flower growers, especially residents of Europe, Australia, Africa and America. This variety is predominantly grown commercially, thanks to the excellent transportation of cut flowers.

Rose Black magic

For the first time this variety was presented to the public in 1997 by German breeders. The peculiarity of the plant is that the rich burgundy tones of the petals in daytime color seem almost black. This moment gives the flowers a special character and mystery.

Tea-hybrid rose Black Magic

Brief description, characteristic

Rose Black Magic, after opening the bud, begins to change its color. Red and black rims are replaced by dark crimson tones. The shape of the petals is unusual - they are bent down, the sizes are average.

Inflorescences are formed one by one, in some cases, flower growers have the opportunity to contemplate four different shades of petals at the same time. Bushes grow quite quickly, erect stems are buried in green mass.

The shape of the flowers is bowl-shaped, the inflorescences consist of 50 petals, which have a delicate velvet structure and exude a pleasant aroma. The thorns are short.

Important! The variety has excellent frost resistance and is not afraid of drought.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Among the main advantages of the Black Magik rose variety should be highlighted:

  • strong immunity, the plant is practically not susceptible to diseases and attacks of pests;
  • the ability to tolerate significant temperature changes;
  • the ability of the plant, even after cutting, to maintain the shape of leaves and petals for a long time;
  • resistance to sunlight.

As for the shortcomings, they were not identified.

Use in landscape design

Due to its excellent decorative properties, designers often use this variety for decorating personal plots of estates and cottages. Due to the rather large size of the bush, the plant looks attractive both in group and single planting. It is often planted in groups for hedge trimming.

The use of the Black Magic rose in landscape design

Growing a flower, how to plant it in open ground

You can plant seedlings in open soil in spring and autumn. In regions with unfavorable climatic conditions, it is better to carry out this procedure in the spring, this will allow the root system to take root and gain strength before the onset of the first frost.

The most suitable time for planting cuttings is the end of April, when the probability of frost is already approaching zero. The site must be well lit and protected from drafts and gusts of wind. It is not allowed to grow this variety under trees.

Appearance of a healthy rose cut

Important! The bushes are spreading, therefore, with group plantings, the interval between holes should be at least 1.2-2 meters.

Actively hybrid tea varieties grow in slightly acidic loose soil. A small amount of wood ash should be poured into the pit first.

The landing algorithm is as follows:

  1. On the selected site, a hole is dug with dimensions of 45 * 35 cm.
  2. Compost, leaf humus, mineral fertilizers and a small amount of sand are poured into the bottom of the depression.
  3. A seedling is placed in the pit, the root system is carefully straightened.
  4. Half a piece is covered with soil mixture, at the end the earth should be tamped a little.
  5. At the end, about 3-5 buckets of water are poured under each bush, the next watering should be done no earlier than 1 week later.

Group planting of rose seedlings

At the very end, it is recommended to mulch the near-stem circle with expanded clay or sawdust, which will prevent the active growth of the weed.

Plant care

"Black magic" does not need special care, only the following procedures are needed:

  • prevention of the development of diseases and insect attacks;
  • regular application of organic and mineral fertilizers;
  • watering;
  • loosening the soil of the near-stem circle;
  • pruning bushes;
  • weed removal.

Watering

It is necessary to water the plant directly under the bush, excluding drops from falling on the leaves and buds. This is due to the fact that water provokes the development of fungal diseases in roses. The most suitable time for watering is early morning or late evening. The frequency of the procedure depends on the weather and climatic conditions.

Loosening

Loosening is carried out with careful movements so as not to injure the sensitive root system. It is recommended to mulch the land near the bush, as this allows you to reduce the amount of weeds and slow down the evaporation of water.

Top dressing

Fertilization should be done regularly. After the winter awakening, fertilizer with nitrogen content accelerates the growth of green mass. As soon as the result is visible, fertilizers with macro- and microelements are introduced to replace the nitrogen-containing complexes.

As soon as the first buds begin to form, it is advisable to use manure or bird droppings. In preparation for wintering, potash fertilizer is used.

Preparing for winter

With the arrival of October, the bushes should be spud. The hilling height is not less than 35-40 cm. All drying fragments are removed from the bush. The soil is moderately moistened and weeded.

How to cover a rose for the winter

Fallen leaves must be burned, since they form a favorable environment for the development of pathogens. The shoots are pressed against the soil surface and securely fixed with a wire. Covering material is pulled over the plant.

Blooming rose

The bushes have excellent frost resistance and bloom profusely. Many gardeners love them just for these qualities. The diameter of the opened buds reaches 14-15 cm. The duration of flowering, as a rule, is 20-25 days.

If the scrub does not bloom for a long time, there may be several reasons for this:

  • deficiency of useful elements in the soil (to solve the problem, it is enough to add special complex fertilizers to the soil);
  • non-compliance with the irrigation regime;
  • non-observance of all the rules of agricultural technology.

Important! In the first year after planting, the plant should not be allowed to bloom.

Flower propagation

After planting in the first year, all formed buds are cut off. This approach will allow the plant to direct its strength to build up the root system, stem and green mass, and also make it more resistant to adverse environmental factors.

There are two ways to propagate a culture:

  • cuttings;
  • dividing the bush.

If the grower does not have enough experience in growing roses, it is better to purchase high-quality and healthy seedlings in the nursery.

The division of the bush is carried out in the spring, shortly after bud break. The bush is pre-dug out and divided into 2-3 independent parts. It is important that each new plant has at least two shoots. Further, the shoots must be shortened to three buds.

Long roots must be cut to the required length, and places in the environment are treated with wood ash or an aseptic solution. The seed can now be planted in the previously prepared pits.

For planting, use seedlings no more than 10 cm long.The harvested planting material is placed in a biostimulant solution for two days before planting, for rapid growth of the rhizome.

Important! After planting, it is important to ensure the greenhouse effect, therefore, the seedlings are covered with a glass jar or plastic bag.

Diseases, pests and ways to control them

Rosa Magic, if the rules of agricultural technology are not followed, is susceptible to the development of certain diseases and attacks of pests. In order to prevent this, it is necessary not only to properly care for the flowering crop, but also to carry out preventive measures by irrigating the bushes with solutions of special fungicidal compositions.

The defeat of the rose by powdery mildew

Most often, the rose develops powdery mildew, and it is also susceptible to the attack of aphids and spider mites.

Black Magic is a rose that deserves the attention of every flower lover. This is due to excellent decorative properties and absolute unpretentiousness in care and cultivation. For lovers of rococo design with a lot of fanciful decorative elements, the Magic Rose is an excellent choice. However, if the required minimum is not observed, the plant may not only fail to bloom, but also wither soon.
