To prepare the infusion, you need garlic and water.

How to make garlic infusion

Despite the apparent simplicity, it is not so easy for a beginner to prepare a decoction on his own. It is necessary to take into account everything: what kind of garlic is suitable for orchids, how to make a solution, the proportions of ingredients. Water should be used clean and not hard, it is not recommended to take tap water. And the garlic should be fresh and juicy, without dry and rotten areas.

To prepare a garlic solution for orchids you will need:

  • 70 g peeled garlic;
  • 1.5 l of water
  • 3-5 drops of succinic acid.

Important! You can take 2 liters of water, but not less than the volume specified in the recipe. Too strong a solution can harm the bush.

How to make garlic water for orchids in stages:

  1. Rub the garlic on a fine grater or pass through a crushing machine.
  2. Pour it with clean water at room temperature. Leave to infuse for several days.
  3. Strain through cheesecloth and add a few drops of succinic acid.

Succinic acid improves the effect of the solution on the plant. It stimulates growth and flowering and helps the leaf blades regain their rich color and healthy appearance.

How to use garlic orchid solution as a top dressing

The broth is used as a fertilizer that can be used to feed a flowering bush, but this must be done strictly following the dosage so as not to harm delicate orchids.

Top dressing with garlic solution during the active growth period is carried out twice a month. During the rest period, 1 feeding in 1.5 months is enough. The soil is thoroughly processed, and then it is loosened. If the water was stored in a cool place, it should be slightly warmed up to 25-27 ° C.

After watering and spraying, it is necessary to remove the water collected in the axils of the leaves.

Watering after transplant and during flowering

Watering orchids with garlic water immediately after transplanting is carried out to disinfect the soil in the soil. Flowers are vulnerable after planting in a new location. Moreover, there is a possibility that an infection could have gotten through with poor-quality planting material or through non-disinfected gardening tools. Only in this case, the garlic infusion will become a real salvation for indoor plants.

How to water an orchid with garlic water? There are no special rules here. The procedure is carried out in the usual way, when the liquid is poured into the soil, or by spraying the bush and soil from a spray bottle. After the procedure, it is necessary to remove the accumulated fluid from the leaf axils with a cotton swab.

If the procedure is carried out in the spring, then it must be done regularly twice a month before the orchids have time to release flowers. Subsequent watering during flowering is reduced to 1 time per month. When buds appear, the concentration of the infusion is reduced. To do this, it is diluted with clean water in a ratio of ½. No spraying is carried out during this period, and during watering, the broth is poured exactly onto the ground, without falling on the inflorescences.

Important! Watering with infusion should be done only on dry soil in a pot.

Contraindications and errors

Garlic solution is a perishable product, so it cannot be stored for a long time, much less used for watering.

A detailed list of the most common mistakes in using garlic infusion and contraindications for use:

  • during flowering, the bush is only watered, it should not be sprayed with a solution of garlic. And irrigation water should be of low concentration;
