Rose Caesar (Cesar): a short description and characteristics

Rose Cesar is the embodiment of romance and tenderness. It was presented to the public in the early 90s. 20th century by French breeders. In a short period of time, the variety has gained popularity among flower growers around the world.

The appearance of the Caesar rose (Cesar)

Note! The Caesar variety belongs to climbing, therefore, props are additionally built for cultivation.

As a rule, the shrub reaches a height of two meters, its width is about 3 m. A large amount of foliage of a rich dark green color is formed on the shoots. On each shoot, up to 5 buds can also form simultaneously, each with a diameter of 7 cm.

Each bud consists of white and pink petals, their number ranges from 150 to 200 pcs. The structure of the petals is terry.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The variety has gained great popularity due to a huge number of advantageous features. The main advantages of the species:

  • strong immunity, bushes are practically not susceptible to diseases and attacks of insects;
  • active growth of new shoots, subject to agrotechnical rules;
  • lush and long flowering from mid-summer to late autumn, depending on weather and climatic conditions.

The disadvantages of flower growers include not very good moisture resistance.

Important! Caesar flowers can be used as cut flowers for bouquets.

Use in landscape design

Rose Caesar is considered one of the favorites of landscape designers. It is often used to decorate home gardens. Breeders specially bred it to decorate park ensembles and gardens. From it hedges are made and fences are made out.

For your information! This flower is often used to decorate columns, arches and altars at weddings.

Growing a flower: how to plant it in open ground

The plant is thermophilic, the indicators of frost resistance are average. A suitable place for planting is a small hill with a slope, well lit. This will allow excess moisture to drain out.

Note! The plant has a powerful root system, so planting a crop near structures is strongly discouraged. The optimal spacing is 1 m.

The soil for the plant must be permeable. Of all the existing types of soil, loam is most suitable for climbing roses.

Appearance of healthy rose cuttings

Overly heavy or, conversely, light soil types need to be modified slightly. For digging, sand is added to the clay to the depth of the bayonet, and clay is added to the sandy ground. To enrich the chemical composition, humus, humus and bone meal are also introduced into the soil in the form of phosphorus fertilizer.

Planting a rose cuttings in open ground

You should start preparing in advance. Ideally in half a year, but also in 1-2 months.

In temperate climates, the last weeks of September to mid-October are a good time for planting. You can also plant plants in the spring until the end of May.

Plant care

The bushes of this variety have no fundamental differences in care compared to other varieties of roses. The only thing to consider is that the plant loves space, therefore, when planting on a bush, at least 2.5-3 m² is allocated. The rest of the agricultural technology is standard and includes regular watering, application of organic and mineral complex fertilizers, mulching of the peri-stem circle and removal of varietal grass, prevention of diseases and pest attacks.

Note! Caesar does not tolerate excess moisture, therefore, before planting, you need to know the depth of groundwater. Ideal if it is 2 m or more.

The bush is famous for its lush flowering, therefore, there is a heavy load for each shoot. Large double inflorescences force the shoots to lean towards the ground. To prevent this, growers recommend constructing props for long shoots.

How to cover climbing rose bushes for the winter

Sanitary pruning is carried out several times a year, during which damaged and weak shoots are removed.

Blooming rose

Subject to agrotechnical rules, the plant blooms throughout almost the entire growing season, which is similar to the English variety. One buds are replaced by others.

Note! Mature flowers are usually cut for bouquets.

During the growing season, there are two waves of flowering, the beginning and duration of which depend on climatic conditions. The beginning of the first wave mainly falls on the end of May, and the second wave begins in August. For the coming winter cold, the bushes are prepared in late autumn before frosts. After warming up in spring, the plant begins to actively develop again.

Blooming Caesar rose

If the plant does not bloom for a long time, then there may be several reasons for this:

  • unfavorable climatic conditions, strong winds;
  • abundant irrigation, close location of groundwater and stagnation of moisture in the ground;
  • moisture deficiency;
  • diseases or pests;
  • deficiency or excess of nutrients.

Important! During flowering, it is forbidden to apply nitrogen-containing fertilizers, they are useful for the leaves, but not the flowers.

Flower propagation

Rose Cesar climbing can propagate in several ways: by layering, grafting, cuttings or seeds. The most common methods at home are cuttings and layering.

Cuttings are carried out at the end of summer, when the shoots are gaining strength. The most favorable time for layering is the second half of spring.

Planting material is harvested from the longest and strongest shoots. Each must have at least two internodes. Next, the leaves are removed from the cutting and planted in a previously prepared soil mixture to a depth of 1-2 cm.

Diseases, pests and ways to control them

Subject to agrotechnical rules, the plant practically does not get sick. The only thing that can infect a bush is powdery mildew. The main signs of the development of the disease are that a dense white bloom forms on the shoots and leaves. If you do not respond quickly, the fungal disease will attack the root system and the plant will die. To prevent infection, it is recommended to use special fungicides with which the bushes are irrigated.

Bouquet of Caesar roses

The Caesar rose variety is a real decoration of the garden. Growing it up is not such a time-consuming process as it might seem at first glance. The main thing is to familiarize yourself with and take into account the rules of agricultural technology and regularly prevent the development of diseases.
