Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Gardeners include the advantages of the variety:

  • good winter hardiness;
  • resistance to diseases and pests;
  • long, lush flowering;
  • decorative foliage;
  • ease of breeding and cultivation.

The only disadvantage is the loss of decorativeness during strong, gusty winds and prolonged rains.

Use in landscape design

Palais Royal is perfect for horizontal gardening of any outbuildings, decorating gazebos, decorating columns and walls of houses. In order for the whips to curl, they need support.

Fig. 3. Landscaping

Landscape designers widely use it as a background plant for various flower beds, planted next to evergreen crops. If necessary, form as a very large bush.

Important! With any planting option, the rose should have good crown aeration.

Growing a flower, how to plant it in open ground

For planting outdoors, seedlings with a good root system, healthy in appearance, are selected. They must be checked immediately for the presence of diseases and pests.

In what form is the landing

Roses are planted with seedlings, which were obtained from seeds or bred by layering.A permanent place is immediately selected for rooting the cuttings. You no longer need to touch them.

What time is the boarding

The optimal planting period for a seedling is in April-June. In the southern territories, the period may be extended until October. The main thing is that the seedlings are acclimatized before the cold weather.

This does not apply to cuttings.

Location selection

Sunny places are suitable for culture. It blooms well in partial shade. It categorically does not tolerate flooded areas and strong winds.

How to prepare the soil and flower for planting

The Polaris rose needs fertile, loose soil to thrive. For self-preparation of the soil mixture, you can use:

  • humus from cow or horse manure;
  • garden compost;
  • sand;
  • ash;
  • sod land.

If the land is infertile, at least the top layer must be enriched with organic matter.

Planting procedure step by step

Algorithm of actions when landing:

  1. A landing hole is being prepared, slightly larger than the root ball (approximately 60 x 60 cm).
  2. The bottom is laid out with drainage.
  3. A layer of soil mixture is poured.
  4. A seedling is planted (with a slope of 30 º to facilitate winter shelter).
  5. The earth is filled up, periodically watering each layer.

Important! The root collar should remain on the surface.

Plant care

Caring for the Palais Royal consists of sufficient and regular watering, loosening, weeding, feeding, pruning and winter shelter. The entire season requires the prevention of diseases and pests.

Watering rules and humidity

The Palais Royal bush is quite impressive, with deep roots. Therefore, he needs very abundant watering. A bush requires at least 2 buckets of water. In moderately warm summers, watering once a week is enough. In the heat, the frequency of procedures increases. Watering is allowed to be combined with light sprinkling.

Top dressing and soil quality

After winter, the rose is responsive to nitrogen-containing fertilizing. To build up green mass and strengthen the skeleton, organic additives are enough for it, for example, mullein.

Potassium and phosphorus are required during the flowering period. The variety grows well in loose soil, with neutral acidity. Slight acidity is allowed.

Pruning and replanting

Flower pruning is carried out throughout the growing season. The main one is spring. Before the start of sap flow, the bush is freed from all damaged, dried stems. It is optimal to leave from 4 to 7 main branches on it. Several of them must be one year old.

During the entire flowering period, faded buds are removed, corrective pruning is carried out.

Need to know! For good development in the first season, it is recommended not to let the rose bloom, that is, to pick off the buds. A couple can be left to verify the varietal qualities.

When pruning, you need to adhere to the rules:

  • Use a clean tool.
  • Cut the lashes at an angle of 45 °, 2 cm above the outer bud.
  • Treat the sections with fungicide and cover with garden varnish.

Features of wintering a flower

Climber fits into the winter shelter when the temperature drops to -7 ºС.

Covering process:

  1. The bush is pruned.
  2. All foliage and trimmings are recycled.
  3. The remaining branches are collected in several bunches and pinned to the ground.
  4. The plant is highly mulched. Peat, humus, dry foliage, spruce needles are used.
  5. On top of the mulch, spruce branches or other covering material is laid out.

Attention! The constructed shelter must have vents.

Blooming rose

Rosa Palace Royal blooms all season, once every 1.5-2 months. That is, the maximum set of buds occurs in waves. Between these periods, many single flowers can be seen on the bush.

A period of activity and rest

Rose Palais Royal blooms incessantly from the beginning of June until the very frost. A dormant period begins from the end of October to April.

Care during and after flowering

During flowering, you should especially carefully monitor watering, loosening and feeding.After flowering, all dried buds are removed.

What to do if it does not bloom, possible reasons

If the rules of maintenance are violated, the rose may stop blooming. There are several reasons:

  • insufficient or excessive watering;
  • thickening of foliage and lack of aeration of the crown;
  • lack or excess of fertilizers;
  • diseases and pests.

If the reasons are excluded, the rose will quickly recover.

Flower propagation

Palais Royal reproduces well by cuttings and layering. It is possible with seeds, but varietal qualities will be preserved only when sowing purchased seeds.

For cuttings, faded stems are used, at least 20 cm long.

For the rooting of the cuttings, last year's stem is selected.

When is it produced

Both methods give good results when rooting the planting material until August. Young bushes should acclimatize and prepare for wintering.

Need to know! This variety does not like transplants, so cuttings should be rooted immediately in a permanent place.

Detailed description

Description of rooting cuttings:

  1. A healthy stalk about 20 cm long, with 5-6 buds is cut off.
  2. All lower leaves are removed (2 pairs of upper ones remain).
  3. It is treated with a root formation stimulant.
  4. Planting material is planted in a place designated for an adult bush.
  5. It is covered with a plastic cap, leaving access to air.
  6. The entire rooting period is watered.

Important! It is advisable to shade the seedling from extreme heat.

Fig. 6. Cuttings

When breeding by layering, the lower healthy shoot is used. It goes deep into the groove and is pinned. Rooted seedlings are separated from the mother bush for the next season.

Diseases, pests and ways to control them

The beauty of Palais Royal is a rose that is very resistant to fungal diseases. True, in wet and cold weather, it is better to play it safe and treat it with fungicides (Fufanon actellik). This will help prevent black spot and powdery mildew damage.
