Peony Bartzella will decorate any garden

Peony ITO-hybrid Bartzella is very decorative and is actively used in landscape design both in single plantings and when creating flower arrangements. By planting peony bushes in a row, you can beautifully decorate the boundaries of the site.

For your information! In group plantings, you can combine peonies of different colors (yellow, red, white) and different heights.

Planting a flower

When planting ITON Bartzella peony, it is important to choose the right planting material. The ideal place to buy is specialized nurseries or shops. Here they give a 100% guarantee of buying the right kind of peony.

Peony rhizome cut

Important! The peony rhizome should have at least 2 growth buds. The ideal number is 5 growth points. The rhizomes themselves should be elastic, without signs of mechanical damage, mold, rot.

The next step is to determine the landing site. Peonies hybrids of the Bartzella variety are grown in one place for up to 30 years, which is why this stage is very important.

  • They try to choose a sunny area on which a small shade will remain during the day.
  • In no case should a peony be planted in the immediate vicinity of any buildings so that the flower does not suffer from the water falling from the roof.
  • Planted under Bartzella paeonia trees will also not show all its beauty.
  • The root system of this species of peony does not tolerate the close occurrence of groundwater.

The best location would be a small, natural or man-made elevation in an area where the sun has access for most of the day.

Before planting, the soil is dug to a depth of 2 shovel bayonets, clearing it from weeds if possible. Lime must be added to acidic soil, since Bartzella will not grow in such soil. If the soil is clayey, then it is improved by adding river sand.

Note! This variety can be planted in both spring and fall. But the autumn planting is considered the most optimal. This is best done a month before frost. During this time, the seedling will be able to root perfectly.

Planting begins with digging holes. Its size depends on the root system of the seedling, it should be freely placed in the hole. The average size of the hole varies within the following limits - depth and diameter of 60 cm.

Inspection of the planting material is considered important at this stage. If traces of rot or mold are found, they are removed with a sharp knife, preferably previously disinfected. After that, the cuttings are immersed in a solution of potassium permanganate for 1 hour.

Drainage from broken bricks, expanded clay, gravel is poured at the bottom of the pit. This is done to prevent the roots of the plant from rotting.

The next layer will be sand, on which a mound of garden soil, peat, sand is poured. Fertilizers are added without fail: superphosphate (2 cups), wood ash (1 cup), dolomite flour (0.5 cups), a little copper sulfate.

A cut is placed on the top of the mound, carefully straightening the roots so that they look down. Sprinkle everything with soil mixture. It is very important to sprinkle the root collar on all sides with ash and sand to protect it from decay.

Important! When backfilling with earth, it is necessary to check that the root collar is at a depth of 3-5 cm.

The earth around is compacted so that there are no voids left inside. When completing the planting, be sure to mulch the soil around the plant (with peat, straw, grass, etc.) and watered abundantly.

Far more laborious is the process of growing from seeds. The best time to collect them is the end of summer (from August 15 to September 15). They are not yet fully ripe, and this is very important to speed up the germination process.

The seeds are immediately planted on the beds to a depth of 5 cm.In this case, the stratification processes are significantly accelerated and take place in one autumn and winter: stage 1 - at temperatures from 15 ° С to 30 ° С, stage 2 - at temperatures from 5 ° С to 10 ° C. In this case, the seeds will germinate as early as next spring.

  • fertilize the peony 3-4 times: in the spring, immediately after removing the mulch, they are fed with nitrogen fertilizers that stimulate the growth of leaves; during the formation of buds, flowering and before the first frosts - complex fertilizers containing more phosphorus and potassium. You can also combine them with wood ash;
  • the main pruning is done in the fall. All stems are cut at a height of 7-8 cm from the ground. In summer, sanitary pruning is carried out - diseased, damaged leaves, faded buds are removed;
