Use in landscape design

New Fashion rose is widely used in landscape design for:

  • single landings;
  • creating rosaries;
  • decoration of flower beds, rabatok (elongated flower bed) and mixborders;
  • decoration of borders and parterres.

Note! The rose looks great as a single plant, and also goes well with other plants. In any design solution, New Fashion will look harmonious and effective.

Growing a flower in the open field

Floribunda Fashion rose needs attention. Proper care begins with the correct planting of the flower. It is produced in open ground by seedlings, which are recommended to be purchased in the nursery. Germinating seeds to obtain a seedling is a very painstaking and lengthy task, and flowering can begin several years after planting. You can get a seedling at home using any of the propagation methods: cuttings, dividing the bush, layering.

New Fashion in the rose garden

It is optimal to plant seedlings in early October, when the weather is no longer hot, it rains, and before frost the flower has time to take root and gain strength for wintering. You can also plant in spring, the main thing is to guess with the weather. It is impossible to plant too early, return frosts may occur and the flower will die. It is also impossible too late, since in the heat the flower may not take root and die. You can navigate by the temperature of the soil, when it stays within + 12-15 degrees, then it's time for disembarkation.

Note! Seedlings sold in containers can also be planted in summer by transferring the flower from the container to the planting pit by transferring it and providing it with diffuse shading.

Location selection

The place for planting the New Fashion rose should be sunny. But most importantly, tea roses are very afraid of drafts. Therefore, it is recommended to place New Fashion in a place protected from the winds, near buildings, fences or in a composition with other low bushes.Another condition is not to plant in a place where groundwater passes, the rose does not like heavy wet earth. In this case, a drainage device and an earthen elevation for the shrub is mandatory.

How to prepare the soil and flower for planting

A seedling needs preparation before planting:

  • the roots need to be straightened, cut off broken and dried;
  • treat with a fungicide to prevent disease;
  • if the seedling is covered with paraffin, carefully remove it with a wooden stick and soak the roots in water for 10-12 hours;
  • before disembarking, you can hold it for 1-1.5 hours in a growth stimulator;
  • clear the upper part of broken and dry shoots, cut off, leaving 3-4 buds.

Prepare fertile soil in advance by mixing the soil with compost, humus, peat and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1: 1: 1. You can also add superphosphate or other compound fertilizer.

Planting procedure step by step

Before disembarking, you need to:

  • dig a hole 70x70x50 cm;
  • to the bottom, if necessary, pour drainage from gravel or broken brick;
  • place the seedling in the planting pit, straighten the roots, cover with fertile soil, which is gently crushed with your hands;
  • water the seedling with 1 bucket of water. Cover the soil surface with straw or peat.

Note! When planting several seedlings at once, the distance between them is left 40-50 cm.The grafting during planting deepens by 3-5 cm.

Sawdust works well as mulch.

Plant care

New Fashion hybrid tea rose requires care, like all hybrids. To obtain long-term and lush flowering, the necessary minimum is required: watering, feeding, loosening, weeding, pruning and shelter for the winter.

Watering rules

New Fashion Hybrid Tea Rose loves watering. It is recommended to use settled or rainwater without impurities at room temperature. The most suitable watering schedule is once a week, 10 liters for each bush. The next day, the soil should be loosened and mulch added. In hot weather, the time between waterings is reduced, and the rose will also feel better if it is slightly shaded by installing a diffusing grid. The irrigation process is carried out in the evening or in the morning - after 18.00 and until 10.00.

Top dressing and soil quality

Rose New Fashion requires regular feeding. Only when receiving constant additional nutrition will the bush reward with beautiful large and bright flowers that will not fade for a long time delighting gardeners. Mineral fertilizers should contain a complex of additives consisting of phosphorus, magnesium and potassium. You will also periodically need to make organic fertilizers.

In the spring, to restore strength and root system, as well as to build up young shoots and foliage, the bush requires nitrogen fertilizers. For one bush, 10 grams of urea and 15 grams of nitrate are diluted in 10 liters of water.

Watering is required regularly

After the buds appear, the rose will need a complex fertilizer with the obligatory content of nitrate and potassium. In autumn, to prepare for winter, organic fertilizers are applied under the bush.

As organics they use:

  • infusion of mullein;
  • infusion of bird droppings;
  • infusion of herbs;
  • ash infusion.

Fertilizer is insisted for 10-14 days, after which 1 liter of infusion is diluted in 10 liters of water and poured under a rose. This fertilizer can be used throughout the season at intervals of 3-4 weeks. If the bush develops well, blooms luxuriantly and looks healthy, then mineral fertilizers can not be applied at all, but limited only to organic matter.

Note! The flower loves the soil light, slightly acidic, moist.

Pruning and replanting

Pruning a New Fashion rose requires regular pruning for several reasons:

  • bush formation;
  • stimulation of the growth of new shoots;
  • pruning faded shoots;
  • winter pruning;
  • spring pruning.

Pruning is done with a sharp pruner. Slices should be done at an angle of 45 degrees at a height of 0.5 cm from the outer kidney.

Top dressing is an important step in flower care

In order for the bush to be uniform, with a ventilated center and equally developed lateral processes, molding pruning is carried out. Stimulation of the growth of shoots contributes to the lush flowering of the bush, since the buds are formed only on the growths of the current season. Seasonal pruning is carried out once in spring or autumn, with each branch being pruned, leaving 2-4 buds, about 15 cm high from the ground.

Spring pruning runs from late February to late March, depending on the weather. Autumn - in October. Summer pruning is carried out during the season, while faded shoots, diseased branches, and also too elongated and growing inward growths are cut off.

Features of wintering a flower

If the winter in the region is cold and the temperature drops below -8 degrees, then the hybrid tea New Fashion will have to be sheltered. The life processes of this flower variety are suspended at a temperature of -5-7 degrees. At this time, you need to start hiding it.

To make it more convenient to cover the plant, as well as to reduce the consumption of covering material, it is recommended to carry out an autumn pruning of the flower. After that, the near-trunk circle is carefully dug in without damaging the roots and covered with dry foliage or covered with spruce branches. An artificial shelter is also made over the rose. To do this, you need to build a frame or a cap around the plant and cover it with a special fabric (geotextile, lutrasil, etc.)

Note! The New Fashion rose is opened in spring, when the average daytime temperature rises above 0 degrees, and slight frosts are allowed at night.

Blooming rose

New Fashion rose blooms very beautifully and for a long time. Large, goblet, bicolor buds do not fade and do not lose color saturation for 10-14 days, charming with a delicate aroma. For at least ten days, roses do not fade even when cut.

During flowering, the bush needs regular watering, loosening and weed removal. After flowering, the plant is fed and pruned. If the flowers fade in the sun, the bush should be provided with diffuse shading during the hottest hours. New Fashion is not afraid of rain during flowering. Flowers do not crumble, do not become stained, but become even larger and more prominent.

What to do if the rose does not bloom

If the rose does not bloom, there may be several reasons that need to be identified and eliminated:

  • The bush was planted this year and is still too young. We'll have to wait until next year.
  • Wrong location selected. Perhaps the flower does not have enough sunlight or winds and drafts interfere with it.
  • Unfriendly neighbors. Shrubs such as chubushnik, spirea or lilacs will take moisture and nutrients from the rose and oppress it.
  • Incorrect cropping. Too much shortening of the shoots affects the timing of the formation of peduncles.
  • Poor soil. The flower does not have enough nutrition, fertilizers are urgently needed.
  • Incorrect fit. Perhaps the grafting point is too deep or, on the contrary, is high, while the bush starts up growth, which draws all the forces out of the plant. The rose will have to be transplanted, paying attention to the depth of the graft.
  • The bush has aged. Old lignified branches do not transfer nutrients well and need to be removed, and instead of them young and flowering ones will grow.

After eliminating the causes, the rose will begin to bloom with renewed vigor.

Flower propagation

Rose New Fashion can be propagated at home on your own. But planting roses with seeds is a very difficult and time-consuming process. The simplest and most affordable ways are grafting and dividing the bush.

The division of the bush is carried out at the same time as the planting of seedlings in the ground: April-May or October. To do this, a large overgrown bush is carefully dug up and the rhizome is divided into parts, leaving 1-2 shoots. The resulting seedlings are immediately planted in new holes.

The optimal time for cuttings is the beginning of June, when young shoots have grown, faded, but have not yet had time to woody.

To propagate New Fashion by cuttings, perform the following steps:

  • Preparation of cuttings. A young shoot with a thickness of 6-8 mm is chosen. With a sharp and disinfected pruner, cut out its middle. In this case, the upper cut is made at a right angle 0.5 cm above the kidney, and the lower one at an angle of 45 degrees under the kidney. The length of the cutting is 12-15 cm. The number of buds remaining on it is at least four. The lower leaves are cut off, and the 2 upper leaves are cut in half to preserve the strength for root formation.
  • Growth stimulation. The stalk should be placed in a glass with a growth stimulant. To do this, you can buy a solution in a store (Kornevin, Agricolla) and use it according to the instructions or use folk remedies (honey water, aloe juice, and so on), leaving the stalk in the infusion for 10-12 hours.
  • Rooting the cutting. Drainage, fertile soil and a layer of sand are poured into a small pot or cut plastic bottle. The stalk is stuck into the prepared soil at an angle and covered with a cap from the second half of a plastic bottle.

Now the most important thing is to create favorable conditions for rooting of the cuttings: the pot should be placed in the garden in a shady place, watered and sprayed with a spray bottle every morning and evening, maintaining the humidity up to 90%. Open the cap for 30 minutes a day to provide oxygen and prevent decay.

Planting cuttings

If the old leaves of the cutting turned yellow and fell off, and young leaves formed and grew in their place, and then twigs, then the cutting started to develop roots and the seedling began to develop. It is necessary to continue caring for it, gradually increasing the ventilation time. For the winter, it is better to put the pot with the seedling in the cellar, where there will be no severe frosts and he can calmly overwinter. And in the spring it can already be planted in a permanent place.

The grafting method has one drawback. In the case of hybrid tea varieties, and in particular New Fashion, grafting may not transfer varietal qualities or resistance to frost and disease.

Note! Despite all the efforts of gardeners, grafting remains the most reliable way of breeding a variety, which you can also try to do with your own hands at home.

Diseases, pests and ways to control them

New Fashion rose is resistant to many fungal diseases, but despite this, preventive measures must be taken to prevent the spread of diseases or pests on the site and infestation of the flower.

Powdery mildew on a rose

The most common diseases of hybrid tea roses:

  • black spot;
  • cercosporosis;
  • powdery mildew;
  • rust;
  • razuha mosaic virus.

In addition to viral diseases, insects can harm the rose:

  • green aphid;
  • weevil;
  • garden beetle;
  • sawfly.

To protect New Fashion from disease and pests? it is necessary to treat it with fungicides and insecticides in early spring and in the period after rains, when diseases spread very quickly.

Queen of the garden

Rose New Fashion is a very spectacular, unusual variety. The flower has a pleasant aroma and two-color petals. In addition, the variety is highly resistant to fungal diseases. It is suitable for use in single plantings and in flower beds, patios and hedges.
