Rose Moody Blues - basic rules for keeping a plant

The work of breeders allows you to breed the most amazing varieties of plants, including roses. Rose Moody Blues is a truly rare specimen that creates a unique fragrant atmosphere in the garden.

Varietal advantages and disadvantages

In comparison with other varieties of Moody Blue, the rose has a number of advantages:

  • shoots reach an average height of 1 m;
  • the bush is compact, the diameter is only half a meter;
  • high resistance to many diseases;
  • perfectly tolerates frost and rain.

With numerous advantages, rosa has only one drawback - the blossoming buds bloom for a short time. The encyclopedia of floriculture has a huge number of varieties of this plant, but it is Modi Blues that has distinctive features.

Application in landscape design

In any flower arrangement, it is customary for the Moody Blues rose to leave a central place. It is not so easy to find suitable neighbors for this shrub, this is where the professional knowledge of a florist is needed. Landscape designers say that it is worth planting Moody Blues in small flower beds, where no more than 5 bushes can fit. The description of the plant suggests that it is necessary to take a responsible approach to the selection of the colors of neighbors, because the lavender shade of a rose can be combined only with some flowers.

Growing a plant

To get a healthy and beautiful plant, it is important to take care of the correct planting of the seedling. It is better to purchase material in pots or containers, so you can be sure of the integrity of the root system, and nothing will suffer during transportation. Experienced growers prefer to purchase planting material only in stores or directly from breeding stations in order to avoid buying a completely different variety of roses, which was planned.

Planting a plant is best done in autumn or spring. In the middle zone of our country, roza takes root better in April, when the soil is already warmed up to at least 10 degrees Celsius. It is worth noting that planting roses in the spring has more disadvantages than advantages. Such flowers will be capricious and will lag behind in growth. These plants take a lot of time and effort to care for.

Advice! If the planting according to the plan falls on the fall, then it is preferable to carry it out in September. Thus, the root system will have time to get stronger and even new young roots will appear.

Site and soil selection

Tea rose Modi Blue loves open sunny areas with a lot of heat. The plant needs fresh air, but at the same time it is necessary to exclude northern winds and drafts. Groundwater should be located on the site no higher than 2 meters. Loose soil with good moisture and air permeability is ideal for this variety. The acidity should be moderate, with high rates, you can use lime.

Planting process

Rose Modi Blues is planted in the same way as other tea varieties:

  1. To begin with, it is worth preparing a planting pit about 40 * 40 cm in size, the depth can reach 70 cm, but everything will depend on the size of the root system.
  2. If the soil on the site is too heavy, drainage or pebbles are laid on the bottom of the pit. And if the soil, on the contrary, is sandy, it is worth laying a clay layer on the bottom.
  3. On top of the drainage layer, the soil is laid in the form of a slide, a plant is installed on it and its roots are straightened.
  4. The rest of the space is filled with earth so that there are no voids.
  5. The planted plant is watered with water with a volume of at least 1 bucket.
  6. To retain moisture, the rose must be mulched.

Follow-up care of the rose

From the moment of planting, it is important to carefully look after the plant. Do not forget that hybrid tea is a rather capricious type of flowers.

Watering

When growing any plant, watering is an important agricultural technique. Especially in the summer, you should not allow the soil to dry out. The automatic watering system greatly simplifies the watering process. Moistening a rose from a bucket or hose is also not so difficult, but it will take much more time. Watering should be done no more than 3 times a week. The frequency of moisture will depend on the weather and soil.

Important! After watering, it is better to mulch the soil so that the moisture is preserved for a longer period.

Pruning

In different phases of growth, the rose must be cut off. You will hear from many gardeners that autumn pruning is not necessary at all. If pruning is planned for the fall, then you need to remove all shoots, leaving only the 4 strongest branches no more than 45 cm high. This pruning is carried out before the shelter for the winter. After removing the shelter, pruning is carried out, after which the Moody Blues tea rose will be no more than 35 cm high.

Fertilizer

This rose variety has an extremely positive attitude towards well-fertilized soil. Long-term flowering can be achieved due to the complex composition of the dressings. In the spring, fertilizer is applied after moistening at the beginning of the growing season. For the warm season, it is better to use dry granular forms of complex fertilizers. Over the summer, you need to pour fertilizer under the bush at least 3 times.

Potassium phosphate fertilizers are applied in the last month of summer. Such formulations will strengthen the plants and prepare them perfectly for winter. You should not use nitrogen compounds during this period, as they stimulate the active growth of the green mass of the plant.

Transfer

Even an adult shrub sometimes needs replanting for many reasons. Despite all the capriciousness of the plant, transplantation is possible if you do not neglect the rules of this process:

  • You need to transplant the bush in early autumn or spring.
  • In the summer, transplanting is also possible, but only in cloudy weather, while the shoots must be shortened to half a meter.
  • The transplant should be carried out with the pass of a large clod of earth.

Flowering period

Blues tea rose has a unique color. The petal is painted in a lilac-pink hue, and there are crimson spots on the edge. Over time, the buds brighten and acquire a lavender color, which makes the rose only more beautiful. The flower has a large, goblet shape.

Interesting! The exclusivity of the flower is given by an aroma that does not leave anyone indifferent around.

Reproduction

It is necessary to propagate the Moody Blues variety by cuttings and according to a certain pattern.

The cutting should only be taken from the shoot, which is already well ripe and has a thickness of at least 4 cm. There must be at least 3 buds on the cutting.

Landing order:

  1. Treat the cutting with a root former.
  2. Prepare a hole, pour grass and fertilizer into it, put grass on top.
  3. Planting a stalk at an angle of about 45 degrees is a prerequisite. Leave a few buds above the soil surface.
  4. Water the planting with water.

For the winter, such plantings must be covered, usually for this they use ordinary plastic bottles with a cut neck. Do not forget about the holes in the bottles, through which the plants will receive oxygen. Bottles must be covered with burlap or leaves.

Pests and diseases

Diseases that are typical for roses are practically not scary for Modi Blues. However, despite the efforts of breeders, it will not be possible to completely eliminate the likelihood of infection. In summer, with too thick planting and high humidity, powdery mildew may develop.If the disease has not developed rapidly and the affected area is small, you can simply remove the spoiled leaves. As a preventive measure, you can use special drugs that will prevent the disease from developing.

There are several types of pests that do not mind eating rose juices - these are aphids, leaf rollers and spider mites. The first can be found in almost every garden and flower garden. There are many drugs against such insects, however, it is worth remembering that they all have a chemical composition. Do not forget about such a pest as an ant. An experienced florist has to deal with him in large volumes.
