Herbicides for the destruction of shrubs and trees
Content:
Sometimes the destruction of overgrowth and uprooting unnecessary trees, stumps is very difficult. For these and other (weed removal) purposes, modern chemicals are the best suited - arboricides (a type of herbicide). The main thing is to act strictly according to the instructions.
Methods for using herbicides
Of the large number of herbicides, it is arboricides that are successful in combating trees and their shoots. The methods of use of the funds are different.
Adding to soil
The best time to apply the chemical to the soil is in spring. Granular arboricide is scattered over the root zone, the soil is dug up. With melt water, organic compounds of the soil, the drug splits. As soon as the sap flow begins, the poison is absorbed by the roots and begins to kill the plant cells.
Application to the bark
This method is suitable for plants with delicate bark (tree growth, shrubs). To avoid quick rinsing, the product is mixed with vegetable oil and applied to the branches several times.
Through incisions
Through the incisions, trees with thick bark have to be processed. Notches are made at an angle with an ax. The work is recommended to be carried out in dry, calm weather.
Injections
The method is pretty old. In the Soviet Union, it was used back in the 60s. Then the technique was taken up by farmers in many countries. Until recently, injections into wood were forgotten, but recently they have begun to be used on an industrial scale.
Spot processing allows you to save the environment, while coping with the task quite effectively. Injections are carried out using an injector.
Foliage spraying
This is a good method, but it is advisable to use it in cool weather. Treatment in early spring or late autumn will be optimal. For best results, work should be done in the morning or evening in dry and quiet weather.
Tree killing chemicals
In the absence of arboricide, you can use broad-spectrum herbicides or prepare the composition yourself. But it is arboricides that are narrowly focused on destroying excess (trees, shrubs).
This type of chemical has a high concentration of the active ingredient. It is very important to observe the dosage and take precautions. The names of the most effective drugs and their descriptions are listed below.
Arsenal
Arsenal is good for large areas. It is used to clean areas of deciduous and coniferous plantings.
Roundup
Roundup is most often used to destroy large trees and bushes. The main application of the product is for cleaning public plantings (parks, alleys). It is versatile in use for different types of trees, shrubs.
Roundup for killing trees
The American drug is popular all over the world.The uniqueness of the composition allows you to successfully deal with excess vegetation.
The preparation consists of:
- glyphosphate - a systemic herbicide of non-selective action;
- Surfactants for reliable preservation of funds on foliage;
- salts of phosphoric acid - the main active ingredient.
Roundup is available with a concentration of:
- 360 g per 1 liter of water;
- 450 g per 1 liter of water;
- 550 g for 1 liter of water.
Each component of the substance has its own role. The surfactant has adhesive properties, glyphosphate slows down growth, and the main element stops it altogether. The irreversible process is completed within a week.
Tree-killing chemicals such as arboricide are effective against grains, thorns, dandelions, thistle, cherry, sea buckthorn, all tree species and many other plants. It is deadly for almost all annuals and perennials. Lack of effect can only be misused.
Works are carried out only in dry and calm weather. Depending on the size of the destroyed plant, the optimal volume of solution is diluted with a sufficient concentration of the agent (everything is indicated in the instructions).
Positive aspects of Roundup:
- extreme efficiency;
- ease of use;
- cheapness;
- prolonged action;
- safety for the ground.
The disadvantages are:
- high toxicity;
- lack of selectivity;
- incompatibility with other drugs.
Sodium nitrate
A longer method is to treat the waste stump with sodium nitrate. In this case, the root zone is also processed. With the systematic use of chemistry, the stump turns into dust in a year.
Ammonium nitrate
A component of ammonium nitrate is urea. Only the near-stem section is being processed. The poison in the water reaches the roots and kills them.
Picloram
This chemical disrupts photosynthesis in plant tissues. Without this process, any culture withers, dries up and stops developing.
How to water the trees to make them dry
Looking at the overgrown area, sometimes one gives up. The question arises - how to water the trees so that they dry out?
From the more available, you can choose monoherbicides. It can be pure urea, gasoline, kerosene. The last two, unlike urea, make the earth unusable.
Sometimes it is possible to block the access of oxygen by cementing the root area.
How to cook poison for plants at home
You can destroy unnecessary vegetation by treating it with 20% vinegar. It can also be called a herbicide. The addition of citric acid (lemon juice) will enhance the effect of vinegar. The product must be sprayed over the foliage of the plant. For example, before watering a shrub to dry it, you should decide on the weather conditions. We need dry, calm weather.
A tree and shrub killing agent can be found in any home. For example, table salt (sodium chloride) is the worst enemy of plants. Regular spraying with a salt solution of the above-ground part of unnecessary vegetation is guaranteed to lead to destruction. Moreover, you can prepare a solution of 1 liter of water and half a glass of salt in any kitchen. Just let the salt crystals dissolve completely.
Weeds and unnecessary trees and shrubs cause a lot of trouble. But you can and should fight them.For example, herbicides have been used to kill shrubs and trees since the beginning of the last century. If you do not want to use chemicals, you can independently prepare poison for plants at home from the products available in any household.
