What does zamioculcas look like
Since the plant is quite exotic, not all gardeners understand how to care for zamiokulkas. See below for more details on how to care for a dollar tree so that it grows quickly and luxuriantly.
Zamioculcas: home care
Zamioculcas is great for growing at home. The flower is often used for landscaping interiors. Small densely arranged leathery, harsh dark green leaves have an oval-pointed shape and natural shine. The growth of zamioculcas is relatively slow, only a few new leaves appear on the flower in 12 months. Plant height about 100 cm. Life span up to 10 years.
Zamioculcas is a flower that has a very unusual structure - it does not have a stem. The complex foliage is located on fleshy stalks, the base of which goes into the underground part.
Growing at home won't be a hassle
Zamioculcas is a very unpretentious culture. Even for a novice florist, growing and caring for a plant will seem quite simple. For normal development, the flower will require a minimum of effort. The main thing is to take into account the following points in caring for a dollar tree at home.
Lighting
The plant prefers bright diffused lighting, grows well in partial shade. The activity of direct sunlight (especially after 10:00) in the spring-summer period is dangerous for the flower and can lead to burns of the aboveground part. The zamioculcas plant normally feels in the shade, however, due to a lack of sun, its already slow development can be greatly slowed down.
Watering
One of the most important factors in the normal development of zamiokulkas is the frequency of its watering. The number of procedures should be determined individually for each plant. The main reference point is the state of the topsoil. In spring and summer, the earth can be allowed to dry out a little. If the soil has already dried up, while there are still traces of moisture, it is recommended to wait another 1 day, and then water it. In the cold season, you need to wait until it dries completely and only then water.For the procedure, soft and warm water at room temperature is best.
You need to water the flower as the soil dries out in the pot.
With excessive watering, rotting of the root system, stems and leaves can begin. If the foliage begins to turn yellow and dry, then this is the first sign of waterlogging. If this alarm occurs, action should be taken urgently. To do this, remove the flower from the pot, check the condition of the roots and remove the rotten ends. Then plant the plant in prepared fresh soil, and after 6-7 days water (moderately). No fertilization is required.
Temperature
Zamioculcas is also not very picky about the temperature of the content. He loves warm air around 22-25 ° C. In winter, temperature readings should not cross the mark below 16 ° C. The plant tolerates hot dry weather painlessly.
Pot selection
An optimal-sized pot should contain the entire root with a free gap around the perimeter of 3 cm. It is not recommended to purchase too large a container, as this can provoke a disease of the plant and impair its decorative properties. The diameter of the pot should not be too large, and the depth should be moderate, allowing to provide the necessary drainage.
The pot for zamiokulkas should be chosen not too large
Zamioculcas will feel best in a clay pot. Such a container allows air to pass well, and can also provide additional ventilation to the root system. The flower can be planted in a plastic or glass pot, provided that there are enough holes at the bottom.
Top dressing
To feed the zamioculcas, special fertilizers are usually used (for cacti and succulents). You can also take diluted universal dressings. It is allowed to introduce funds into the soil only after moistening.
Fertilizer for zamiokulkas needs to be bought as for succulents
How to feed a flower from store preparations:
- Agricola. The preparation contains micro- and macroelements that are readily soluble in water. How to prepare the solution: dilute the drug (1 teaspoon) in water (2 l). The frequency of fertilization is once every 10 days. It is prohibited to include other drugs in the mixture. It is necessary to ensure that the solution does not fall on the green parts of the plant;
- Agricola Aqua. Dilution of the drug is not required. It can be introduced directly into the soil or sprayed with foliage;
- pocon. On sale, the tool is presented ready-made. The preparation contains substances hazardous to humans and animals, therefore it must be stored out of the reach of children;
- "Uniflor-growth". The nitrogen-based preparation accelerates the growth of green mass. To prepare the solution, the agent (2.5-3 ml) is diluted in water (1 l);
- "Uniflor-Bud". The preparation contains potassium and phosphorus. It stimulates the budding process and improves flowering. Before use, the product (3 mm) is diluted with water (1 l);
- "Master color". Preventive remedy for the common disease of chlorosis. The product is intended to stimulate flowering.
Pruning
Formation is necessary to give the plant the desired crown, as well as for its general rejuvenation.
Pruning is carried out at the request of the grower
You can and even need to trim zamioculcas. The procedure will help to form the crown of the plant, improve illumination, remove yellowed, diseased and bare branches. Usually pruning is done during active growth in spring or summer.
Pruning should be done if the branches begin to stretch up, but not to the sides.To give the crown a beautiful spherical shape, you will first need to remove the upper bud, and then get rid of the lateral branches that have the wrong direction of growth.
You can also do anti-aging pruning. To do this, you need to get rid of old, unsightly branches. After the procedure, ugly stumps may remain at the base of the flower. They are usually removed during transplantation.
Transplant and garter
During periods of active growth, the largest leaves can begin to fall apart to the sides. To avoid this, you need to take measures. It is recommended to transplant the plant into a larger container, or place a support next to the flower. The best option is semi-circular or circular legs with legs. As a last resort, you can tie the foliage with a soft cloth strip.
